How do you use the SHLD-6?
Sep 24, 2012

I have large(ish) hands and I'm typically used to shooting with a D700+24-120mm F/4 lens for large parts of my day, so when I got the OM-D, I was caught on the wrong foot with the rather shallow grip that it has.

To remedy this, I ordered the rather expensive SHLD-6 grip, but to be honest, I'm hardly using it to it's full potential. I love the fact that the grip breaks out in two parts, but the horizontal grip is all I ever use. I tried attaching the battery holder and vertical grip to it, but didn't like how the camera not only became bulky, but also didn't feel too good in my hands.

I think Olympus should consider selling that horizontal grip as a separate accessory for half the price! I love how it places the shutter further out and adds an additional control wheel as well.
