They do this and all will be soon forgotten. Otherwise its reputation will be tarnished for a long time. Reputation are much easier to undo than to repair.

I am rather convinced that Nikon Germany (and most likely Nikon USA too) entirely share your point of view. But they cannot do what Tokyo doesn't endorse.

So, the real problem is that 99.9% of all the D800 AF noise never makes it to the pacific island ... It's almost like the internet in Japan uses an incompatible IP protocol stack
