The 35mm Summicron (pre-asph, of course) I have used for years on my Leicas was not that different: good center rendering even wide open, so-so corners until closed to f/5.6, required f/8 for technical excellence. But it was small, practical, and I loved it and learned to live with its quirks. Much the same for the 18mm Fujinon, which is my most used lens on the XP-1 (together with the adapted Micro 55 Nikon AI).

I do hope, as other posters have noted, that the 14mm will do a better job for landscape and architecture, but even if this happens I won't give up my 18: four millimeters on the wide side make a lot of difference, and 14 and 18 have different uses.
