Instead, get a small softbox on a boom and hover it over the top of your set.
Provide fill light from small foil-covered reflectors arranged at sides and front. [A3 and A4 sized]
Graduate the plain background for depth and separation by hanging a flag at the back of the softbox.

I guess i'll just be getting some plain backgrounds then. Sounds like the best solution. I searched a bit on youtube and found setups in the direction your pointing me as well. Less to pack away too.
