D7000 Time lapse - how to put together?

I have a D800 and it has the "Time-lapse photography" feature, which creates a movie out of the shots directly in the camera.

My friend has the D7000 and wishes he could do this too. Am I correct in stating that the D7000 does not have this same in-camera feature, where it will create the time lapse movie directly in the camera for you? With the D7000, do you have to use post processing software to create a "movie" out of all your shots?
