Like Yezariael stated, lens correction is needed more with wide angles (8-35mm). The 50mm per DPR review "Distortion is extremely low at just 0.3% barrel, a figure too low to have any significant impact in real-world use".

The wider the angle the more distortion present. Correction by the camera is very good but only works in jpg. It's neat when looking thru the viewfinder as you shoot at WA and right before your eyes you see the shot taken morph into the corrected shot.

Of course PP distortion correction regardless of software is limited and comes at a cost. The more you correct the more image area is lost to cropping.

Often distortions can be used to enhance composition...

...other times they are just laughable.
