Thank you for the examples. Looks good but hard to tell really from the samples esp with D3S.

I don't think it's possible for any lens to be 'far better' than the world class 100/2 makro planar but the new lens does look like it will be a stunner and at least slightly better.

The way I shoot I've never really had problems with CA with the 100/2 so that's a non-issue. I'm more concerned about contrast/microcontrast and how it renders esp wideopen. Looking at the MTF data I think it's a given that the resolution will be there.

The design of the 100/2 is probably much more complex than that of the 135/2, because the 100/2 can go to 1:2 macro/close-up, while the 135/2 can only go to 1:4. Then it is no wonder that the 135/2 will do a little better on some aspects.
