But better for what? ..

Everything you can do with compact you can do with FF. Many things you can do with FF you can not possibly touch with compact. That means one is (significantly) better than the other - when and if you need it. Does it answer your question?

I have a compact camera which has a 25mm to 300mm (135 equivalent) image stabilised lens which I can put in my pocket. I know of no full frame camera that can do that, do you?

No I don't know of a ff I can fit in my pocket with a 300mm lens (yet) but I know what I reach for when I want prints 16x20 and upwards, as I regularly do . I'd also rather be shooting with a large bodied camera for anything over about 200mm.

Any problem on earth can be solved by a well aimed Pomegranate...
