D800 + 70-200 good combo?

Hi i need your suggestions the only lens i have with my D800 is 50mm f/1.8 and i love it i was looking for zoom lens i like to buy 24-70 which i rented it but i cant get sharp image because my hands are not sturdy. i was thinking to buy 70-200 f/2.8 vrii what you guys think about this lens. Iam not pro just hobbyist.
I like travel city life and landscape.
as iam new to Nikon moved from 5D mkII.
