60D retarded dial mode lock design - there are better solutions

A friend of mine just messed up some key pictures by accidentally changing the mode on her T2i.

I think the lock dial is one of the best features on the 60D. But, then again, I don't change my mode very often.

Like most things in photography, it depends on your perspective and intended usage.
