Nikon Capture NX 2.2.4 cannot save file.

I have just transferred my Capture NX 2.2.4 (32-bit) from my old XP computer to a new Win7 64-bit one.

Everything installed - accepted by registration codes and all seemed well - until I tried to save a changed NEF file. Then: "Could not save file. Access to file denied".

This had never happened in XP. Nikon shows 2.2.4 as compatible with Win7 64-bit.

I now see that this is a common problem. One solution might have been to upgrade to 2.3.3 but those nice people at Nikon Europe have withdrawn that download. (It's still on the USA site).

I take it that the USA download will not upgrade a European version of 2.2.4.

Has anyone solved this? My experience with Nikon software support in the past has been "disappointing".
