xz1 autofocus

hi,

I got an xz1 last month and have been taking pictures to try it out. I seem to be having a lot of trouble with the autofocus. Most of my pictures are coming out slightly fuzzy. I'm not sure why. Although I AM taking many indoors, the fuzziness is even there when I'm using a fast shutter speed and flash to compensate. Has anyone else had this problem? It could be me, but I didn't have this problem with my last camera. I also have some trouble sometimes when it focuses on something that I do not want it to focus on. I primary want it to focus on faces, but sometimes it chooses something else and I have to convince it to shift back.

Any ideas?
