But note the dynamic range as the blacks are black and shadows are deep. It would look fine 1/3 and 2/3 and even 1 stop underexposed as well. It comes down to taste in the end, not absolutes.

Nice shot(s) - they look good on my calibrated monitor as well. In the spirit aerial refueling, here's a few more, but Navy-style and from an earthbound position (I envy you getting to capture the airborne perspective!):
