Sounds very tempting...

I plunged for m4/3 over DSLR for size and weight... but my EM5 with the PANY 12-35 is quite a big/heavy monster already. Yesterday I grabbed my Olympus Trip 35 instead of the EM/Pany.

Do you have both combos? If so how much heavier/bigger is the D600 with the 24-85 compared with the EM5 with the 12-35? Could you post some pics of them side by side?

I don't think either of these camera bodies are available yet, certainly not the GH3. But what 3 lenses would you buy to compliment the body?

Panasonic - 25/1.4, 12-35 and 35-100?
Nikon - 50/1.4, 24-70, and 70-200?

How does the pricing and size combo shape up? Don't forget that the body is only one part of the equation when buying into a system.

Actually, I compared the D600 w/ 24-85 f3.5-4.5 to the EM-5 with the panny 12-35 and both wide open and at their sharpest aperture, the D600 combo was a bit sharper across the frame and captured more detail. And at 8mm5 f4.5 has shallower DOF than the EM-5 at 35 f2.8 (equiv to 70mm f5.6 on the D600). And my 70-300 f4.5-f5.6 will also have similar DOF control to the 35-100, and it's quite sharp from 70-200. The Nikon lenses and the body are also splashproof as well.

I just purchased the D600 and these 2 lenses for $2950 new. The E-M5 w/ grip or the GH3 are about $1300, and those 2 lenses will be about $2400 combined, so a total of $3700.

THe D600 struck a great balance of size and function. It's Far larger and heavier than the EM-5, but the GH3 size (not so much weight) is getting quite close. The m43 lenses are smaller and lighter, though.

m43 is now competing with the bigger cameras in quality that's for sure, but in doing so the price gap has closed.
