external hard drives and Mac
Sep 21, 2012

I recently got a Rosewill USB3 (I use it as USB2) external enclosure and placed an old Windows drive formatted for Windows with data (JPEG, word documents, etc.) in it. Connected to my Windows-XP computer it works fine. When I connect it to my Mac Mini 2011, I can access all the files. However, if i eject the drive and turn the power switch off and then on, it no longer is seen in the Mac Finder. To get it recognized, I have to remove the USB cable from the Mac Mini and then re-plug it. That is very strange for one who uses Windows computers. Is there some set-up I must do so the drive is not "lost" when I power it down or is this something intrinsic to a Mac?
