Thinking about picking up a couple 550ex flashes

instead of a 580ex II, to go with my 430ex II. I want to use them for portraits. I was also considering picking up a couple of Yongnuo 560's and just doing it all manually (I have in the past). I know the 550's have wireless compatibility, but what are they missing?

If I use my 60D to trigger the 550's, I'll have to set the flash compensation manually or flash level manually on each flash right? I don't think I can control their ratio in camera, can I? Also, can I do high speed sync with the 550's wirelessly?

What are the pros/cons of using the 550's over a Yongnuo 560? I'm thinking the 550's will be more reliable slaves and maybe do high speed sync wirelessly?

I thought about picking up a 580ex II, which I've had in the past, but the current price is making me gag.
