D600 dial mode lock- why?
Sep 21, 2012

I just went to Best Buy to try the D600 and in my hands it felt really good.

I was concerned coming from the D90 that it would feel big, clumsy or heavy but so far it was neither.

However one thing that irritated me and I dont understand is why there is a dial mode lock. It was cumbersome to use and coming from the D90 which doesn't have one, nor do I feel it needs one, I cant understand the need for it on the D600 either!

To me that dial is not something I turn by mistake. Never happened on my D90 and I dont see why it would happen here.

Can anyone enlight me if this is standard on the FX cameras?

Tried Canon 5D3 and it doesn't have the dial lock but of course it is huge and heavy so I much prefer the D600.
