Whatever the name, Zeiss surely made some design decisions for this lens that pushed it more in one direction than another. They could have developed a 35/2 Biogon style lens too.

In addition to any other characteristics the Sonnar designation for the RX1 35/2 may mean this lens will have some character shot wide open rather than going for the ultimate in distortion free reproduction such as you see on a 35mm equivalent field of view ZM25/2.8 shot on APS-C, a combo which can come off looking somewhat sterile.
