Am I the only Leica owner who does any post shooting processing or, for that matter, develops my own films. Irrespective of the film or the sensor or the lens (given that it is resonably sharp and distortion free) the quality of the photograph depends on framing and exposing the photograph and then processing and printing it.

My M8 allows me to set the exposure (including compensation), the contrast, sharpness and the colour saturation. Allowing for just 1 stop each way exposure variation from standard, this gives me 625 different results from the camera before I stick it in Capture One. Factor in F-stops and I have 3125 different photographs without even moving.

The previous comment about film was so correct. Without considering different developers, every brand and speed of B&W film had it's own contrast, sharpness and resolution. Choice of developing agents could tune this and then all you had to do was choose the paper to print on.

At the end of the day, all you could do was produce something you liked....and hoped others might.
