RX100 glowing highlights. Is there something wrong with my unit?

I took some pictures of a watch to illustrate this. When left on P mode f1.8, highlights of the watch (dial lettering, crystal reflection) are not sharp and exhibits a glow effect. When I switch to Aperture Priority mode and choose f5.0, the picture is sharp.

Is there something wrong with my unit? Your advise is much appreciated.
