in praise of anti-motion-blur
Sep 21, 2012

I'm a bit of an old-fashioned photographer, so I rarely use some of the new features on cameras today. But I had my NEX-C3 and kit lens with me on a trip with the kids to the park tonight, and when we came home we spotted an owl in the palm tree in our front yard. It was almost dark, and I knew the owl wouldn't wait for me to go inside and get faster glass. So I switched to anti-motion-blur as quickly as I could, zoomed to 55 and took this one shot. I was really startled when I looked at the LCD - the light in the picture looked about 30 minutes earlier than the actual daylight that was available.

Of course it's not a great photo, but it's a photo that I never would have gotten at all with most compact cameras.

Sony Alpha NEX-C3
