Simplest way to figure out Pro vs Non-Pro...

What is the maximum number of pictures the camera can bracket?

OK, the user is an amatuer, whatever... the OP wanted to know a way to tell the difference between one and the other.

For some reason the higher end cameras allow bracketing from 7 to 9 pictures, while cameras like the D600, D7000 etc can only do 3 pictures.

This is why the "PRO" DX line of the D100 to D300s can do bracketing of 7 to 9 pictures. And take a look at the FX line, how many can they bracket?

I know... way too simple. Let me know if this makes sense though based on each camera spec you look at. Who knows maybe you find a point and shoot that proves this theory wrong. It would be more interesting if you can find a DSLR that can prove it wrong.

In DPReview you are looking at the AE Bracketing spec.
