I've had a few repairs done by Nikon, and every time I'm surprised at how cheap it is. I'm looking forward to hearing about the quote. Just send it to Nikon, and fret no more.

Don't get too upset yet. The damage is probably far less than you think. I once had a very similar accident. It was a few years ago and they had to replace the metal ring on the lens, and rear LCD. If I remember right,in my case, it cost about $350 to get everything looking new.
