Caoture One 6 question - is editing non destructive?

I'm 95% decided to buy Capture One 6 at the discounted price on at the moment, have downloaded the trial version and downloaded the manuals also.
But to shortcut my understanding of a fundamental, is the Capture One file editing non destructive, or is it wise to take a copy of original raw files before starting any editing, just in case I need to get back to the original and start again (I do this quite often in LR, and especially when experimenting with editing effects)?
Thanks for advice.
