70-200 F4 L IS USM - cleaning the rubberized rings.

I had the same problem and asked this forum a couple of weeks ago. You can take the rubber rings off and wash them in soap water (with the help of a sponge or a toothbrush). Then rinse them clear water and wipe them dry.
I did not use any other chemicals and mine look like new now.
