Battery life comparing optical viewfinder (slr) vs lcd preview (mirroless) camrea.

I wonder, how long does the battery last in a mirrorless camera as opposed to an SLR that uses an optical viewfinder for preview. Using an LCD for preview ALL the time must suck the life out of the battery.
It would be interesting to see an apples vs apples comparison between the two to see what the difference is. Has anyone done any tests regarding this?
