Google buys NIK Software...

IMHO, there is no reason, and I mean no reason to use the junky software that Nikon paid NIK to develop.

SO, who cares about that.

The Efex suite - that is a different story.

I suggest scraping your coins together to make whatever NIK purchases or upgrades you want/need soon because it will be hard to tell what Google does.

Google wants the Snapseed product to compete with the recent purchase of Instagram by Facebook. It would not surprise me if they keep Snapseed and spin off the more hardcore production software.

Time will tell.
