Good start. Boy it can be challenging shooting at the zoo. Like you say, fences, glass, crowds, backgrounds, light... All of it seems to work against the photographer.

I was wondering if you had a filter on the lens, or a lens hood. The bokeh seems a little wild, and there is a lack of contrast in some photos. Taking off one and putting on the other can help quite a bit. I like using those rubber fold-down lens hoods at the zoo, so that it can be pressed against the glass.
