The Digic5 is "old technology", but I cannot see what else old there is. (Surely a lot of connectors and passive components "reused" but I see no problem there).

-They have the gall to give us YET again that ancient AF???

I cannot remember when Canon has had 11 point AF before.

Adding two single orientation normal precision sensors to "The Nine" doesn't make it anything new. The only new thing in there is the light sensitivity of the central point. So it's the same old "1 reliable pt AF FF camera" scheme again.

have you seen it? used it? etc?

No, nobody did. But I do know it was much more fun to use 1D3's high precision crosses on periphery.

i'm actually curious on this AF with a EV -3 AF capability.

Me too, but it will only help you with low light, it won't make the AF any further precise, than the EV 0 AF. You will lock better in the dark.

the "old" "ancient" AF .. was barely EV 0

it's certainly not the same as the older 9 point AF's that were in the 5D or XXD cameras .. so it will be interesting to see how it performs in real life.

Apart from the light sensitivity, it seems to be. There's only one cross point with the same paper features (high precision in one direction only).
