the bells and whistles actually help advanced photographers get better shots. A big sensor will aid the point and shooter who is not necessarily a photo enthusiast. You and those like you are probably who Canon and Nikon are targeting. Enthusiasts will stick with high end feature-packed APS-c models or bite the bullet and buy the high end full framers if they perceive a need to up their photo game.
