Nikon 5100 - best buy at sub £400 ?

I really like the Nex6 with its APS-C, EVF, hot shoe and perfect size. However it is £830 in the UK.
Currently I can get a new Nikon D5100 for £374.

Seems it would be foolish to save up and spend more than double the money on my first serious camera.

So my question is this - is there anything better than the Nikon 5100 available for less than £400 new in the UK

(I know about the D600 which very similar in DP rating and capability but is lsightly more expensive and not so good for videography)
