Its is certainly interesting to see these old school lenses evaluated on the NEX. I suspect the 35-70 f3.5 would be a very good lens on the NEX, it is nicely built with a great reputation but having looked at one I felt it was just a bit too big to balance well on the NEX 5N.

I have found the smaller 35-70 f3.3-4.5 to be an excellent mate for the NEX 5n and have written a fairly detailed evaluation of it here: In reality the lens is almost the same size and weight as the kit lens but of course you need to add the adapter, but still we are tailing about a nicely balanced combo here.

I have recently returned from a 6 week OS holiday and have probably 1500 images shot as RAWs with this lens, overall the results technically were superb. Since these lenses are normally very cheap there is not much to lose.
