Don't worry about shallow DOF, worry about technique.

All shot with the OMD with either the Panny 20mm 1.7 or Oly 45 1.8. Some were shot at F5 some wide open. It is a superbly capable system, focus on your technique before thinking you need gear that may be more expensive. As a photographer there is a lot of room to grow with the M43 platform.
