Nikon 18-300mm for newbie.

Go for it.
I've got a Tamron 10-24, Sigma 24-70 2.8, Nikkor 50 1.8, Sigma 70-200 2.8.

This is a lot of kit to lug around. For a recent family holiday I decided to buy the 18-300 and haven't looked back. I haven't changed a lens since and the extra reach at the long end is totally worth it.
