Camera twisting on tripod plate

I find that my Canon 450D with battery grip is twisting on tripod plate of my Slik Pro 330EZ and my AF1100E Ball head attached to my Pro Pod 600. Solution as a retired mechanical engineer is to have a strip of 3mm wide paper which I bite off to a length of approx 5mm, which I place into the Tripod thread in the base of the battery grip, before attaching the tripod plate. It prevents the camera twisting on the tripod plate
