The other poster is right and about all you can do is clone it out with a program like Photoshop.
Then, get into your menu and turn this feature off (unless it's something you want to keep).
Alternatively sometimes you can crop the photo to eliminate the date. Whether cropping improves the picture or causes loss of desired content depends on the picture.

I started in the 50's - my first picture was taken with a Leica and hooked me for life. I no longer use my Leicas, but I am still taking pictures. Some things never change.
