Sony RX100 Bounce Flash

Day 3 of ownership. One of the features reviewed as "clever" is that the small flash can be aimed upwards to bounce light of the ceiling. It rotates easily but, springs back to straight forward. Am I missing something on how to operate it? Do you just hold it with a finger? Of course, there is nothing in the online manual!
