No, Josh, the problem is you weren't paying attention.
The D600 sensor is 2.25 times larger than that of the D7000. Isn't that a spec?

If Nikon is running true to form, the autofocus of the D600 will be more accurate than that of the D7000, the dynamic range will be higher, the high ISO performance will be better, and the color accuracy of the sensor filters will be more accurate (closer to the spectral response of the cones in your eyes) than those of the D7000. If all of those are true, aren't they also "specs"?
