Sony A77 Editing on a Mac

I have an iMac running the latest software.

I shot some test video on the A77 in AVCHD mode. The settings were in AVCHC 1080p.
I imported the video into Final Cut X, iMovie 9 and onto the desktop.

Unlike my ex A55 I am not getting the playback in any of these apps. in High resolution.
The video looks like it was shot in the low resolution.
I did not have this happen with the A55.
