is it possible...about flash?

Hi~
i have been trying this....

one canon 580EX2,(canon7d),without sync cord,without another flash attached to hotshoe,and donnot need buildin flash....

i'm wondering if 580 can fire on this codition? r there any settings in speedlite or in 7d can make it?i sweated a lot,but havenot found the way!!!
