Battery charger won't work

Help!

I have a Nikon Quick Charger MB-18a and 4 EN-EL3e batteries. All the batteries have at least 1/3 charge on them currently, and work just fine in my camera.

I went to charge them for the first time since moving across the state , and the charger wouldn't work! I tried several outlets, in several rooms, and all four batteries. The light on the charger would not come on. I tried leaving the battery in over night anyway, but it didn't charge.

I borrowed the same charger from a friend, for whom it worked just fine. Brought it home, and same thing as my charger! No light, no charge.

I have tried everything I can think of--different outlets, different rooms, cleaning the contacts with alcohol... I have lots of sessions and schools to photograph in the coming week, and no way to charge my batteries, and no place has a charger in stock.

Does anyone have any suggestions?
