Mako, how many focus threads would you guess we've seen with the 351.8?

Amazing isn't it. Has to be something close to 80%. I'm starting to thing that current PDAF tech and the 35 f1.8 are simply combining to show a shortcoming of that design. Note the D800 AF problems are highlighted when a fast short focal length prime is involved.

The 35mm f/1.8 G works great on my D80 and D300. I get random back-focus issues when it's on my D7K, under certain types of light. Makes the lens pretty much unusable for me, which sucks, because my only other f/1.8 lens is the 50 D, which is NOT sharp wide open (and also a tad long for small rooms, etc), and therefore somewhat useless for low light, which in turn defeats the main purpose of having a fast prime.

I'm going to look at some alternatives, maybe a Sigma or something. I have a few f/2.8 lenses that get me by in the mean time.
