EVF is obviously usable for high-end professional work -- it's often used on the Arri Alexa and Sony F65 4k cinema cameras, which can cost over $100,000.

Anyone who thinks "EVF sucks" should experience a decent-quality EVF by examining a Sony A77 at Best Buy. It uses a 2.4 megapixel OLED display. The response time and color rendition is so good it might at first fool you into thinking it's a bright optical viewfinder. The A99 will probably have something better than that.
