What do think of IQ of 35mm ?

Not many outstanding reviews!

better IQ and depth of Field. Also I would like faster lens.

I took some pictures this morning in the garden of my boy in his uniform for first day at school.

The light was bad and the pictures were noisy with high iso. For the money I like the sound of 40mm but will I get enough in fram when taking landscape shots.

My 35/2 was glued to my 400D. Excellent lens, F2 is very usefull. Very nice general purpose lens too. Don't expect to get wide angle landscapes, but you could stitch some panoramic images together when needed or just use the kit lens.

Since you are planning to use it outside, with possibility to step back to get him in frame, you may also think about 85/1.8 or 50/1.4. The first one is especially wonderful for portraits. They are somewhat more expensive but not by too much.
