Well, I wasn't sure what you're intending to charge, but $500 is a decent price for 1-2 hour family sessions with reasonable deliverables. I never mentioned any numbers in my post. I applaud your candor, and resolve to go professional. Keep working at it, and I'm sure it will work out well.

Some customers will insist on CD only deliverables with a guaranteed number of images. They of course assume it's going to be a number of images they like. That's the hard part - to make the customer satisfied with that number of images. It makes sense really, but as photographers we have to make sure we have the ability to deliver to those requirements - that's where practice and more practice comes.

Also note that even with these CD-only customers it's worth mentioning that a hanging print goes a long way, plus it's marketing for you, should their guests see and like the hanging artwork.
