feel let down by dx lenses
One of the problems with telephoto primes is that they are mainly aimed at the 'specialist' end of the market. Fewer of these are actually sold to users, so the cost of design and production has to be recouped which reflects in higher retail prices.
Pentax optics have always been smaller than other makes, so the DX format may not need a drastic rework of existing designs. Besides, all lenses work on the DX format so I'm quite happy with my existing glass (but the weight IS an issue).
For the above reasoning, I don't really see that the DX option will result in lower prices. I have noticed that lens prices here in the UK have actually risen quite alarmingly over the last 12months.
