Which Prime?
Sep 10, 2012

I currently own a Canon 50 f/1.4 that I'm very pleased with, but would like to go a little wider with a shorter minimal focus distance. I'm considering the Canon EF 28mm f/1.8 USM and the Canon EF 35 f/2 as their minimal focusing distance is about half of the 50 f/1.4. I'm also open to a 3rd party lens (even though I don't follow the 3rd party area that much). I'd like to keep it in the 24-35mm range ( preferably under $500) with the most bang for the buck.

I am mostly going to be using the new prime for photographing the new puppy, a handful of portrait shots, and occasional walk around use. It would be used on a 7D. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
