Why the RX1 has a fixed lens:

The only way they could have pulled this off is with tilted microlenses on the sensor, which are tailored specifically for this specific lens - the sensor and lens are thus made for eachother. If the sensor had to be compatible with mutiple lenses, there is no way they would have achieved dimensions this compact.
