Battery care for D7K (original battery)

Why in the world would you buy a b ackup battery and then leave it discharged.......

I top my batteries off very often and always have one in the camera.......I have D50 batteries that are 7 years old and as near as I can tell still funtion perfectly.......my wife used one all day to help me at a friends wedding last Sat.( about 400 photos) and we never needed a spare battery............charge them

That D50 has always had a charged battery in it at all times, even today and I hardly ever use the D50 anymore.
