Sony A57 -- Everything In Focus

Hello,

If someone can help me with this, it would be greatly appreciated. I'm trying to figure out how to get everything in focus on A57, like with an Auto P&S (I tried setting the Fstop to 22) and I just can't seem to do it -- I still wind up with parts of the shot focused and parts that are blurred, out of focus. I tried with the kit lens and I also tried with the SAL35F18....any help would be greatly appreciated.
